2 months ago there was one on offer from Netto for the same price, which was Goodmans brand, it has not got AUX nor an SD/MMC card support.

Pretty good price, that, I bought one similar to this about 2 years ago for £70, it's worked ok since, but now when I first get in to the car there is no radio reception for a few minutes. Don't know if this is the unit or aerial and can't be bothered to find out.
I'm now looking for one similar to this but with another USB port on the rear for a usb harddrive to be plugged in to, looks too untidy from the front. :rolleyes:0 -
Was your Cd player from Aldi? If it was, then you have 3 yrs warranty. If not, there is nothing you can do about it.;)Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.0

It is a good price although one of my mates also had a previous model from Aldi and he said the radio reception was below par. I think a load of those models were sold off on one of the clearance sites for about £30 delivered. However this appears to be a new design so maybe its better quality?
I'd also like inputs to be rear mounted as you can then make the cabling a lot neater and hide the hard drive\ipod in the glovebox or centre console.
Cheers
Rob
Edit : If you are after a decent brand then this Sony looks good value although not as feature rich are the Aldi one and this is clearance so stock will be limited -> http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/50054880 -
I bought a black one of these at lunchtime - two black and six silver still left in my local Aldi around noon.
I haven't fitted it yet but it looks very smart - not as cheap as it lloks in the picture anyway. Along with the usual support strap and removal keys you get a diddy remote, plus a 1m long 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male cable for the AUX input and a USB male to USB female cable of similar length.
I can confirm neither of these inputs are replicated on the back of the unit - there are 2x RCA SUB-OUTs and a left and right RCA PRE-OUT, along with the aerial and ISO sockets ofcourse.
I was hoping to get it installed today but getting a bit late now. Oh well.

Well as it turned out I did get enough time to install it.
Very straightforward connection to the wife's Renault Megane - just plugged straight in with the supplied ISO adaptor.
Sounds pretty good - I can't really tell it apart from the previous Sony Xplod headunit it swapped out, but that didn't have a USB port.
Tested the USB with a 4GB memory stick - sounds good, and the ID tag info scrolls nicely across the display as the track is playing, but I don't think you can search by tag.
The only fly in the ointment is the position of the USB port - it's on the far right and there's a real risk of hitting a memory stick every time you go to put the indicators on! Even the supplied cable pokes out a fair distance.
I suppose one solution would be to buy a Saab or a BMW - I don't think they have indicators!
EDIT: Joking apart, the best alternative is probably to use the SD card slot instead of the USB, but it is supposedly limited to 1G cards - I wonder why?

I bought the previous model about 6 months ago. This one and mine seem to be basically the same other than cosmetic stuff and mine plays from a 2GB SD card no problem.
Hardly the end of the world if 1GB is the max though. It's not like the cards are expensive these days. I still remember a dashboard full of tapes.0 -

yeh i got the previous version of this....
only bad thing about it is the fact that some of the plastic finish has come away and looks even cheaper... can that be taken back under warranty?0
