First things first, make a cup of tea and take some deep breaths - there will be some folk along here in a minute who will be able to shed some light on the reality of the situation. Once comment I will make though is that you can always dial 141 ahead of the phone number you are calling to hide your phone number, so don't feel it's a foregone conclusion that if you call them they will then have your telephone number.

Doorstep collectors have no powers what so ever ! Never let them in do not even talk to them , if they do not go away when requested call the police ! You are right in not phoning them . Conduct everything by letter only. Give us afew more details of the debt and we will see if we can help .0

Your address

Creditor / DCA address
A/ C – Ref Number XXXXXXXXX
Please be advised that I am only prepared to communicate with [Enter Creditor / DCA name]. OFT rules and regulations clearly state that you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make an appointment with you.
There is only an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; e.g. the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v. Sheppard and Short Ltd [1959] 2 Q.B. per Lord Evershed M.R.).
Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives, to visit me at my property and if you persist in sending "doorstep callers" to my home, you will be reported for harassment and be liable for damages for a tort of trespass.
You would also be liable for conspiring in a tort of trespass by acting in defiance of my instructions and sending someone to visit me nevertheless.
Should it be necessary, I will obtain an injunctionClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
