Hello
I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I've caught the cupcake bug and wanted to be able to pipe buttercream type stuff onto the top of my cakes, so I bought an icing bag set, i've used it once and it split rendering it completely useless, it was made of soft plastic. Can anyone recommend what I need to do this properly and where I could get it from?
Thanks very much

It's not strictly OS but as I hate washing out piping bags with a passion I use the disposable ones you can buy - Lakeland do them (I think) and you can normally get them from cookshops. One thing though, they can 'pop' if what you're trying to pipe is too stiff, so if you're looking to pipe anything that is stiff you'd probably be best off looking for a fabric bag, again a cookshop or cake decorating shop will be your best best. They're hard to find now though as the EHO don't really approve of the washable ones being used in kitchens. I know we were always 'encouraged' to use the disposable ones in the bakery (not that I minded lol

Hello again  This is what my DD used to ice the muffins in my avatar
Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I make my own with a triangular piece of greaseproof paper, just make it into a cone with a tight point the fold the bit that sticks up at the top and cut point off and insert icing tube/nozzle.
Very old style but I'm rubbish at explaining- I do wedding cakes with this you have brilliant control, hopefully someone better at explaining will be along soon. Good luck x0 -
