Urgent help needed with art project!

I have no idea where this should be posted so please feel free to move this BGs.

DD announced last night that she has to make an animal out of recycled materials or junk as an art project. She waited until *after* my recycling had been collected to tell me. :mad: The project has to be handed in on Monday and I am stuck for ideas.

She does not want anything made out of paper. :rolleyes: We have an old football that is deflated and she liked the idea of turning that into a turtle's shell but how would I go about making the rest of it?

Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looroll tubes make ace legs if you are near the ends of any rolls.
Most cereals come in bags within the packets so you could cannibalise the boxes whilst the cereals stay in their bags.
Do you have any clothing jumble waiting to go to the charity shop or whatever? Is there something in there you could use?

Hi Annie,

Re the old football, could you cover it in layers of pva glue and paper to make it go hard, then once dry you could paint it to look like a turtle.

For the legs head and tail, plasticine, stuffed old tights, newspaper, or maybe something from the garden twigs, leaves. Sorry not being much help

here goes

Required
1 old football
random odd socks, gloves, tights, rubber gloves
scrap paper for stuffing
green paint
stapler or glue

1. Cut the football in half so you have 2 domes
2. using old odd socks or the fingers from an odd glove, stuff with the scrap paper until you have 4 sausage shaped legs and 2 smaller sausage shapes for the head and tail.
3. staple or glue (I prefer staplers - no drying time) the legs, head, tail into position underneath one of the domes.
4. place the other dome inside the first so the head, leg and tail attached bits and sandwiched between to two pieces of football.
5. Staple all around edges where the two football parts meet to secure.
6. Paint everything green and leave to dry.

Animal from recycled products - done.
