Helloooo, sorry I haven't been around much recently. I have been having a bit of 'get your head back together' time, but have been trying to keep up to date with how everyone is doing.
For anyone who hasn't read my diaries before, I'm Jo - me and my hubby Stu live in Leeds with our two children, Ryan (age 7) and Natasha (age 1). Ryan has Aspergers Syndrome (an autism spectrum condition), so life can be a challenge sometimes, but both my kids are beautiful, funny, crazy creatures and I wouldn't change them for the world.
I'm starting this new thread because I am literally weeks away from finally being 'properly' debt free - I have a sharesave that matures in August, and at the moment it is looking like there will be enough to clear the secured loan in full (of course the share price could plummet just before I can sell them, as it did last year  but I'm going to stay hopeful about this one). But I'm finding it difficult to keep focussed, and we keep slipping a bit, meaning our debt free date is always just slightly out of reach.
On my credit card at the moment is....gulp....£460!
It was completely clear a few months ago.....I'm not really sure how it happened, except that our domestic appliances all ganged up on us, which can't be helped. But there has also been some unnecessary spending, on things like shoes, clothes, and general 'stuff' (Nintendo DS for Ryan's birthday
).
AND, I have booked a holiday for the end of August, for the grand total of £214 for 10 days. I don't yet have a plan to pay for this! But anyone that knows us will know that we have had a tough couple of years, and really need a holiday, so we will just HAVE to find a way to afford it.
So there's quite a bit of work to do if I'm serious about being debt free this autumn.
I haven't got a plan as such yet, other than ebaying, car-booting, doing surveys, clicks, etc, and keeping an eye on the other boards for possible loophole-exploiting-money-making type opportunities.
But I WILL be debt free this year....I WILL!!! :j

Hello, and nice to see you to see you nice.
I know you can do it, wish i had something more motivational to say...but i just know.
You are our inspiration, and if anyone has the wherewithall to get through the last bit.....

Good luck with this Snaggles.
Remeber it isn't a race - a mad sprint at then and running out of steam is not going to change much. Keep focussed and you'll soon gete there. I wouldn't worry too much about the splashing out. The relief from being debt free will be a novelty for a while but as long as you keep an eye on things, you shouldn't have too much trouble reigning it in before is gets too far.
If the share price is stable after all the recent activity in the various markets, i can't really see anything that should shake it too much. Don't think you'll have anything to worry about on that score. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -

That sounds like a plan to me

Snags! You're back
I'm sure you'll do it. How goes the extension plans? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Thank youuuuu......it's really nice to be back!
Oooh, I hadn't thought that the shares could actually go up - I'm such a pessimist! But to be honest, the shares are in a bank, and banks are not exactly in favour at the moment, so who knows. For the past few years, the shares have seemed to go down a bit at this time of year, and then pick up again late October/early November, so I will have another few weeks of 'shall I sell them or wait a while' to go through - I never seem to make the right decision for some reason (lucky I don't do your job Hypno!).
The extension plans are well underway - the architect came last week to have an initial look at the site, and then came again yesterday to measure the house. How embarrassing, he even measured in the monster cupboard (under the stairs) and our walk-in wardrobe (sounds posher than it is!), neither of which were what you could describe as tidy! :rotfl: And then he went in the loft, which I have never actually been in (spiders...shudder...), which is a absolute tip as it is completely Stu's domain!
Oh well, I'm sure he's seen worse. Soooooo anyway, short of buying a lost Da Vinci masterpiece when I win the lottery, these are the most expensive drawings I will ever lay my hands on I think."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Hi Snaggles :hello:
Didn't think I'd seen you posting for a while, but I'm still fairly new here myself so I'm still getting to know you all.
You sound as though you are doing fantastically well and are certainly an inspiration to a lot of people here. Wow....to actually be debt free. Can imagine what that must feel like and can't wait to get there myself.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Hi Snaggles, Just wanted to say Hi and well done and keep going you so nearly at the end. :T :T I normally read your thread but never have posted before - Sorry!!
but when I hear of people who are nearly their and have done so well it really gives me hope to carry on and crack this debt free journey!!
Have a good afternoon
