Mobile Phone - What Would You Do?

I am ready to upgrade my mobile contract.
I get on well with the contract, and my current mobile is great. It may need a new battery soon but thats only a £4 odd on ebay. Its been chewed by one of my cats but it still works, and the screen is good.
Anyway, my point is i can get an upgrade phone that I could potentially sell on ebay for around £200. Do you think it would be worth it to get one and sell it, or should i treat myself to a new phone.
I was thinking that if my current phone does break within the 18 month contract i could always get a cheap PAYG phone?
What would you do?

My contract is only £25 per month as it is, and i never go over budget (O2 messed me around a few years ago so im a "premium" customer and get good deals.
I dont really want to cancel my contract to be honest.

I would try and avoid upgrading if you can. my network are doing a £20 a month sim only deal with 200 anytime mins and unlimited texts on a monthly rolling contract. Same network 100 anytime minutes unlimited txts £30 a month 18 month contract plus free phone. Over the term of that deal it will of cost you £180 more not to mention any call costs if you use more than 100 minutes.
If you are happy with your phone and can pick up a cheap PAYG phone if needed then i fail to see the logic in upgrading.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Hi
I get 500 free minutes (anytime any network), 500 free texts and a free O2 treat (usually some more free minutes) for £25 a month.
I think is is a fantastic deal so dont really want to move away from this contract.

My dad has an O2 contract and didn't want to change phones last year so they credited £120 to his account so he didn't have to pay the bills for a few months. Might be worth a tryNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Maths doesn't really add up though...
If she gets an upgrade and sells it for 200, that's the equivalent of £16.50 per month cheaper...So the answer to "why not get a sim only contract" is because it works out more expensive.
I've done both in the past...it just depends how badly you need the money...when I was a student, I sold all of my upgrades and saved the cash...now I'm working I like to treat myself to a new handset every 18 months...0 -
I think to some people having a flash phone is important to others it's just a tool.
Potentially £200 from selling the upgrade phone is a very nice overpayment on your debt so IF it's to overpay a debt and you regard a phone as a useful tool rather than something to impress people with AND it's a free upgrade and doesn't mess with your current deal-then go for it.
A new phone is nice to have but the cat will only chew that one too so make money from the upgrade and bring your DFD a little closer

Thanks Duchy.
I used to love getting a new phone but recently its just not as important anymore.
It will definitely go towards paying my debt, nice big overpayment on the CC.
And yes Monty will probably chew the new phone as well :rotfl:Debt: just my mortgage
