When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning people and those that follow.
Am in a moany mood, feeling tired, big suitcases under my eyes, weather looks pony and I should be going on a picnic with work. Rant over!
Today I:
* will not buy nor smoke any cigarettes (3.5 weeks clean!)
* will use the magical bus pass
* will eat lunch at work for free
* have posted a birthday card off for my dad. Card already in my box of cards and 2nd class stamp wanged on the envelope
* will have an early night tomorrow and not go out
* will check online banking
* aim for a NSD
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
* Phoned the SLC to see where my grant is. They told me I owe them money
and tried to get me to pay it back over the phone. I don't think I owe em any, so I told them that I wasn't making a payment, and asked them to send proof I owe anything. The woman sounded quite surprised that I wouldn't pay something I didn't know anything about, as the computer said I owed it!
* Realised I've forgotten internet banking password for one account, so requested new one
* Checked all other internet banking and cancelled some direct debits
* Bought TV licence
* Sent old phone to Envirophone to get money. Will only be £5, as phone is so old, but is better than nothing. Also hoping for Quidco.
* Checked HSBC overdraft T&C's, as they've sent me new ones. Think interest rate is still the same.
* Booked train tickets using Virgin site, as they don't charge for fast ticket. Also used railcard
* Phoned up about some stuff I ordered off the internet and I got the wrong item. Will be getting a refund
Only £1.99, but woo
* Bought 6 Enegizer batteries for 93p, but were also on 3for2, so 18 batteries for less than £2!
* Bought new box for jewellery storage. This is moneysaving, as got it from poundland and thus was £1. Also came with free "picture hanging kit".Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Today I have:
- Checked net banking - really close to the line, but will be back to normal on monday phew! Really annoyed as I have been waiting since the 1st for someone to cough up, the joys of self employed I guess?!
- Checked mystery shops - none but found one sent payment by bacs yesterday so will be £21 better off next week.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner from stores
- Gave someone a lift and got paid a fiver
- Went to tesco for a few bits and found the reduced section
and spent money on things to put away for xmas and birthdays. On the plus side I used lots of extra points vouchers and a £3 off £30 spend :T and remembered to buy reduced meat. - Grocery totals: Asda: £8.56 Aldi: £4.53 Tesco: £14.12 :T
- Worked out that DS birthday presents should have cost me £32 but I got them for £6.75 :j One of the bargains was found mentioned here on MSE

- Bought bargain Better By Nature dog food in Tesco - £1.77 a box, instead of £3.59 a box
- Washed up by hand, saving electric
- Got out some stuff to ebay

- Walked to and from school this morning and this afternoon, saving petrol
- Done PB CT and comps
- Left my bag at home when picking the kids up, and took 20p for each of them to spend on the way home (much better than the 50p they keep wangling out of me!)
- Sent back free trial game and dvd
Oh also forgot that I have updated my £10 a day challenge and grocery challenge - wondering if I can now manage to come in on budget for the grocery one
and I know there is something I have missed, might remember later! Ah yes, cheap train tickets arrived today :j 0 -

- Made lasagne from store cupboard ingredients and made two extra portions for freezer.
