Using cafepress, or creative craving type sites...?

Ok, this site is all new to me, but I need a little help.
A fair while back I had started my own business printing and creating tshirt designs, but for a few reasons I had to stop.
However, the need for a little money has come up, so I've decided one of the things I could do is use a site like cafepress, or creative craving to take some pressures off.
I had looked into cafepress years back, but they only printed onto white tshirts at the time, which would have been of no use to me.
Anyway, I have checked and found a few posts on here about cafepress and shirtcity, but I was just wondering if anyone had any other information that they could add.
I am tempted for creative craving since they are based in the UK, but what worries me is that they must make some money of some sort somewhere even if it's from a percentage of the sales, yet they seem to say they're totally free...
Any information, trivial or otherwise, would help.
Thanks.
