Does anyone work for dhl@home or another home courier network

Options
Hi,
I wondered if anyone was working for dhl@home? I responded to an ad and found that they pay 65p per parcel. I live in a rural area, and wondered if I could make a wage? I don't mind if I don't earn a fortune, I'm already working and studying but need more work. They said my route would be 2-3 square miles of where I live which seems reasonable. Although I live in a village there must be 500 houses...
I have done driving work before, so I'm could with routes etc. Has anyone got any feedback on this, or other courier companies like redcats?

There's a large thread about couriers here

I know nothing about it, but I would ask myself "How many of those 500 people would have parcels delivered by dhl each week"

I would also ask how far I had to drive to pick up the parcel. You may only live a few miles from the delivery point, but may have to drive 20 miles to the collection point.
• Hi Joe,
Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look at the thread. The parcels are actually delivered to you, so that cuts out time and petrol, which I liked the sound of. Also, yes I guess your right about how many people will order in my village, but I guess in my 2/3 mile area there must be 1000 houses and a lot of rural people order from catalogues - well perhaps!
Oh and they pay 65p per parcel.
• No, for me it dosn't pay.

And in all honesty it dosn't actually run as smooth as you would like to think.

It is more time consuming than they tell you...plan your route, count your parcels, and receipt each parcel.

Alot of the parcels require for a signature from address only, which means you can not leave it with a neighbour.
You have 3 attempts to deliver each parcel, so that can mean 3 trips to 1 address, only to be paid for 1 parcel.

I took this job to up my income as a self employed cleaner, this morning I have had to cancel one of my jobs, because once again my parcels have not been delivered at the given time. It is now 2 hours after the arranged time.

avoid like the plague - they are fullof tricks to get out of paying

I worked for them up to the start of this year. Never again.
In november and december they promised a £100 bonus if we were available to work every Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
On the last Saturday before Christmas (the 18th) no parcels came, I thought it strange, (I was at home waiting in as usual, nothing different to any other Saturday) so on Monday i phoned them to find out what happened and they said it was their mistake and that the bonus wouldnt be affected.
When I got paid for December my Saturday bonus was missing so i queried it, and they said that i wouldnt get the bonus because I didnt work on the 18th. I even spoke to the manager who told me that" he remembered that it was their mistake but there's nothing he can do about it now"
I mean what sort of organisation treats the people ythat it works with like that?

they know that its impossible for me to prove now that they made a mistake?

Grrrr. Im really quite !!!!!! off by it all.
