Icas or Acca membership while on trust deed

Hello all,

i've been a lurker on this forum for a while, my debts been really bad over the last wee while and now i know i've got to do something about it.

Im going to put on a SOA tonight for you'se but before i do that, i had a quick query in regards to a trust deed.

Does anyone know whether you can still continue to be a member of either ICAS (institute of charter accountants in scotland) or ACCA (associate of certified chartered accountants) while ona trust deed.

im pretty much planning on goign ahead with a trust deed after a online soa through the cccs website. However im worried about my future career.

I would maybe consider a debt management plan but due to accruing interest and the like i think long term the trust deed would be better, cccs agreed with me on this.

however i think if its going to affect my membership of either of these qualifications (currently icas but could transfer over to acca if i want) then i'd maybe try and sort something else out...dont know what to be honest

So stressed, getting calls of creditors daily and getting nasty letters through the post.

Spent too much through uni, my dad doesnt earn much either hence a lot of my money goes on family things...still live at home and will continue to for the forseeable future.

anyway guys if u have any info for me in regards to this that would be great

cheers

Have you tried having a look at ICAS's website (or even calling them anonymously) to see if your future career would be affected by you signing a trust deed.

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of trust deeds myself (family member had a bad experience  ), but I guess they must work for some people (apart from the trustees! lol).

I feel like I'm advertising the debt arrangement scheme tonight :o but if you are considering a debt management plan, why not have a look at DAS as well. If you get onto DAS, it says your creditors HAVE to freeze interest, which might make a difference to you. Here's the website

    http://www.moneyscotland.gov.uk/das/das_display_home.jsp;jsessionid=83D53E1526F82075BE89AD16E43F1D6E?p_applic=CCC&p_service=Content.show&pContentID=3&

But my top tip would be to go and see the CAB or the local council money advice people. They might be able to answer your question about ICAS too! Oops, now I'm advertising the CAB too :o:D
