import taxes

could anyone tell me how much I will have to pay in taxes to import goods by post to Ireland to the value of €500? As there are 5 items I could order them 1 at a time but this would incur extra shipping. Does every import become liable for tax or do some slip through the net? I have never ordered goods to this value before.
