Why do I need land line?

Every application for credit, loan etc ask for land line number!! I don’t have one, why do I have to, my free minutes in my mobile is more than enough plus I have to pay line rental etc. how do people get around it?? Even in ebay I couldn’t sell, because I should have land line number. I have work number but I can’t put the extension in the form GRRR is annoying!

It is part of the credit scoring process and you get points for having one and probably points taken away for not having one.

Getting hold of debtors by phone when needed is a must and of course the landline is perceived to be a more permanent number.

This will go against you particularly if you are asking for unsecured lending

It is really silly though!! Who uses land lines these days when everyone has free minutes? I guess I need to get one to at least sell in ebay and amazon!

For online use just start with 01000 000 000 and keep adding a number after the 1 until it excepts it.

Don't do this for 'real' applications just online quotes where by you don't want every tom !!!!!! harry phoning you up every 5 minutes.
