Hi i'm new here although have been reading for months now. I've only got £8000ish in debts which is not much in comparison and mine are not driving me insane...i just want rid of them. I have a husband and three children and am really hoping to be debt free sometime soon, well, within the next year or so.
I am feeling quite chuffed with myself at the mo because after getting my bank statement and seeing they charged me 3 referral fees totaling £90, I phoned them up and told them i wanted all three charges refunded back into my account and they said ok -no arguments, and even gave me a reference number. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I've also cancelled our subscription to sky (summers here and we won't be sitting in watching tele in the night) so saving £17 a month and i cancelled my phone contract as i don't really use it - it hasn't been charged for nearly two weeks now, so altogether i've saved £37 per month and found £90. wow. I also read the thread about snowballing and think i will definitely be setting up a standing order to pay one of the credit cards off. I also switched my house insurance from abbey(£38) to asda (£21) so saving more money. Its very addictive this saving money business isn't it. I must say thanks to you all for your words of wisdom over the past few months which has spurred me into acton and saved me megabucks:beer: cheers, eve x
