food budgeting question

Hi
No idea what I spend really. Have joined the June grocery challenge and have kept a spending diary http://www.spendingdiary.com/ The total in my sig is what I have spent so far this month for 2 adults , 2 dd's , 4 rabbits and 13 guinea pigs.
I have included food and everthing else. Why not keep a diary for a month and keep reciepts and then , like me , it should give you a rough total and then try to trim it a bit.
Good luck

I have to admit my generous budget includes probably a bottle of vodka a month - this is my MSE way you see bottles of wine are £3 + and last one night a bottle of Vodka is £4.99 and mixed with 21p coke lasts well the month!
MSE is making me alchoowolic
Thanks for that link yellowmonkey!0 -
No problem ray.
Hope you and all the rays are well

 Hey sweetie,
I have no idea how little it can be done for - a lot less than we spend I'm sure.
Currently ours is adding up to about £300 a month which is one big shop, One medium sized one, and 2 or 3 bread / milk / fruit / veg / random ingredients for food tech  top ups.
It seems to be creeping up and up though.
This feeds me and Hubby, my 19 yo son and my 13 yo daughter plus our grumpy old cat who lives on tuna, chicken and prawns with some occasional IAMS.
(plus my neighbour's cat who has had too many babies and is skin and bone - and the assorted flotsam and jetsam who come round for tea.)
The best bit of advice I can give you is to keep your receipts for a month. I bet you shop more often than you need to and spend more than you think you do.
Or was that just me???
And stick at the Grocery Challenge - it was our saviour!

Last month I spent less than £50 a week on 2 adults, I teenager or 2 if GF was here, 2 large dogs & ! bird, but checking my totals there are some clothes, funeral flowers & lots of sweeties there, so the actual total is nearer £40 a week.
If you divide it up minus the animals & extra teenager is works out to approx £13.50 per person per week.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0
