I too was expecting when we started on a DMP with CCCS. So glad we started when we did as I was made redundant at the end of my maternity leave.
Is your DH still self-employed or is he employed now? My DH has always been self-employed and after being made redundant I went self-employed for 22 months but I am employed again. I think CCCS are not keen to take you on if you are both self-employed but if he is employed you should be okay. When I went self-employed they were ok about it because we already had everything set up and in fact we were able to increase our monthly payments. Now that I'm employed again our costs have gone up so our monthly payments are currently at the lowest they have ever been. Hopefully we will be able to increase them again soon but if we can't it just means it will take even longer to become debt free.
Give CCCS a call. They have always put me at ease and never made me feel ashamed at the situation we have got ourselves into. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

My partner is now working, but on a lowish wage of around 18k a year, I get a weekly maternity allowance from paying my NI, as I'm unable to now work. I think because I'm self-employed we can't look into an IVA? So if we applied for bankruptcy, would the only valuable things we have my car/cameras/computer that I use for my job be taken?
We've got to the point that I know we can't pay this months minumum payments on loans and cards, we have no ccjs. A lot of the debt is on 3 lloyds credit cards, and they have the ability to ransack your lloyds bank accounts for money, so I've opened a new abbey bank account and asked my partner to speedily get his wages put in there, rather than his lloyds bank account.
I just don't what to do anymore, please help. I'm terrified of losing my home, we rent, but I just don't know what they can do to us.
Thank you for any advice
First bit of advice is take a deep breath and relax. It's only money, you haven't murdered anyone.
You've taken the first steps to getting your life back under control so should be proud of yourself. Now take the next step and phone either CCCS or National Debtline. They are completly non-judgemental and will help you work your way through this.
If they advise BR then no-one will come and take anything from you. All the the OR is interested in is big ticket items like 50" plasma screens and the Picasso in the loo.
The car you will have to write a letter explaining why it a nessecity and not a luxury to the OR and they will decide weather you can keep it.
Pop over to the Bankruptcy board and ask a few questions. We are all as nice as the guys on here.
Congratulations on the impending birth of your baby. I wish you well. As a Mum of 3 I know how you must be feeling.
(((hugs))
EDIT: If any of the debt is business related it might be worth contacting Business Debtline. Numbers and links in my signature.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
As had already been said, definitely take advice first (cccs, cab or national debtline) but if you are advised to go BR then you can always ask "specific" bankruptcy questions over here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=136
If you don't have to go BR though then the lovely people here on DFW will help with ways to cut expenditure etc!!

Hi All, just wanted to thank you all for the kind advice you gave me. THe last few weeks have passed in a blur because of complications in the pregnancy and I went almost 3 weeks over! I finally have my baby and I'm out of hospital and I rang the National debtline today for advice. On Tuesday my partner and I sorted all the paperwork out relating to the debts and feel with the support of the charity we can see a way forward. Just wanted to say thank you and that all your replies did make a difference
