The 10% link worked OK for me just now - thanks.
  • Many people were looking at getting the Live Aid DVD from CD-WOW. I would advise against it. It is Region 1 not multi-region as described, it is low quality NTSC and has less music on it than the region 2 version. Mine is being sent back, complete waste of time that was.
  • great thread.............looking forward to getting my u2 cd for £7.24...........bargain, thanks a lot.

Doubt if quality is any different and tracklisting is identical to R2 - both versions omit shedloads of tracks - not just Led Zep - but it is most definitely R1.

If you have a multi-region player then it does not matter what region it is.
Most people will not notice any difference in quality with the NTSC version having fewer lines to make up the picture. Just make sure you have a NTSC SCART input otherwise you will only get a monochrome picture.

I have one of those Philips Pixel Plus TV's that makes any picture look great, and even with NTSC it removes any visible scanning lines, so it may depend to some extent on the quality of your TV ;D ;D

Why would they be unhappy ?

Maybe because some sellers have no mention of NTSC ?
  • Apparently there are 16 tracks missing from the UK concert and at least 20 missing from the US concert. Perhaps that means the actual original concert locations rather than the DVD regional content as it contains both US & UK concerts.

Something that has just got me thinking is that someone is profiteering from this DVD. I suspect that the Band Aid Trust get a fixed royalty payment from the publisher/distributor. The problem is if you go to a high street retailer you pay £39.99 and yet CD-WOW are charging £17 for the US version. Fair enough we have to pay VAT in the UK and the government is giving that to the trust where as CD-WOW avoids VAT by sending from Hong Kong that explains a small difference.

So lets compare like with like, Play.com also avoid the VAT and are a discount direct seller like CD-WOW. They are selling the region 2 for £29.99 where is the extra £13 going ? I bet it is not going to Band Aid Trust, my guess is that Warner music is charging a higher wholesale price in the UK than they are in the US.
