Need help with maths

The shame of it is that I am mathematically challenged and I'm not good at working out discounts on things or what I'm really paying for the stuff I buy so this site has been an eye opener but even so, I really need to be able to work things out for myself. It's basic things and it hampers me in sorting out my bills, supermarket shopping etc. Cos what works for some of you doesn't necessarily work for me in my situation.

I'm going to enrol on a maths course in September to sort myself out. In the meantime, are there any good books anyone can recommend to help me, or internet sites that help with the basics?

What standard are you looking at? If you're look for specifics like how to work out percentages etc why dont you look at the reviosn sits on bbc bitesize page as they usually have min lessons on the basic and then little test for you have a go at if thats the kind of thing your after. Guess it depends how basic it you want it.
