Help with Natwest

I recently (about 3 weeks ago) sent Natwest a letter regarding the loan and overdraft I have with them to ask if they would freeze interest and accept reduced payments as I am struggling paying the full amounts. I have not yet received a response from them but after I sent the letter with my offers I cancelled the dd I have going out of my account to pay the loan.
NatWest haven't said whether they'll accept the reduced payments etc or not but of course I don't want to pay them nothing until I hear from them so what do I do about paying them my reduced amount this month (the dd which originally paid the loan each month used to come out on the 20th so would've been today)? I have tried to set up a standing order via online banking using the account number and sort code which shows up on my loan online but it says the account number is not valid - do I need to send them a cheque this month say through the post and then ask them about setting up a standing order? I'm confused and don't want to get nasty letters about my cancelling my dd, but as I say they haven't bothered to reply to my letter yet (not sure how long creditors usually take as never done this before)
Any help appreciated

I would set up new payments for the reduced amounts - even if they don't accept, keep writing back saying sorry but you can't afford any more - as long as you keep making the reduced payments, they will see that you are serious in your efforts to sort things out.
I had a situation with Next last year and they constantly refused to accept my reduced payments (£30, so not an insubstantial amount) and kept threatening me with debt collectors, I just kept writing back saying I can't pay more and if they could not accept my payment offer, then to please do transfer my account over - I knew the debt collector would accept this amount!! Eventually it got to the point where I told them to stop procrastinating and actually transfer my account over - I then got a letter accepting my payments (this was about 6 months after my initial letter!!). I now have just over £300 left to pay, so should clear it by next year!!!:T0 -
Send them a cheque or postal order. Please bare in mind if you do also use natwest as your account provider they may just go into your account and take the money anywayMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

I can tell you from experience that they WILL go into your account and take the money owed.
I have a personal loan and overdraft with Natwest and when I had money available in my cirrent account they took it to pay any arrears on the loan. They even froze my online banking so I couldn't see any account details forcing me to call them.
I suggest you open another bank account and get any pay going in there so Natwest can't get their hands on it. Continue topay the reduced payments and hope for the best.
I have a DMP with CCCS and haven't paid anything off my overdraft or personal loan for a couple of months. My 1st payment to CCCS won't have been allocated to them yet either but I haven't heard a thing from Natwest. Strange...I'm sure that won't last though.
Good Luck anyway.

Hi thanks for all your replies. I have set up a new account with A&L but unfortunately it wasn't set up in time for this months wages to go into there so they have gone into my Natwest account so I'll transfer the money over to A&L pronto before they just 'take' money off me and will write to them again and send a cheque tomorrow with the amounts I've said I could pay.
Fingers crossed they'll accept my offer but I'll do as you all suggest and keep sending them that amount each month anyway xMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0
