Hi guys,
Well, I went yesterday, and was officially made bankrupt. Feels kind of weird, but at the same time, you're not sure whether to laugh or cry, lol.
In any case, would just like to know from you bankruptcy vets as to what happens after you're made bankrupt?
- Will I need to write to the creditors and tell them my bankruptcy number? I know Egg gave me until today to pay them (They sent me a default notice), and just wondering whether I should tell them so they don't try to go through the courts trying to recover the money?
In any case, what is the bankruptcy number anyway? Is it something like ****/20**? Is it the insolvency number which is seven digits?
- How many days after the bankruptcy does the OR phone you?
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,
Well, I went yesterday, and was officially made bankrupt. Feels kind of weird, but at the same time, you're not sure whether to laugh or cry, lol. Congratulations on getting through it
In any case, would just like to know from you bankruptcy vets as to what happens after you're made bankrupt? Life goes on, just have no debt

I didn't bother, just answered the phone and told them. Some have sent copies of your br petition to them with a covering letter. Also if any continue to hassle after they've been informed then tell your OR
In any case, what is the bankruptcy number anyway? Is it something like ****/20**? Is it the insolvency number which is seven digits? Your BR number will be **** of 2008, any creditor can find you info on the insolvency website by putting in your name and where you went BR
- How many days after the bankruptcy does the OR phone you? I was phoned a few days after but some get phoned the same day, the first call is just an introduction and to check a few things, the interview will take place later
Thanks in advance.
Hope that helps
:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

I sent letters to all my creditors, should have saved my time and money.
They rarely take notice, you will still get calls for the next couple of weeks only now you dont have to ignore the phone;)
Just tell them you are BR (although if its an indian call centre just hang up, they dont seem to know about BR or its implications and will still ask when you intend to pay:rotfl: ) and give them your OR details along with your BR details, eg xxxxx court, br number 1234 of 2008 and the date, then hang up
If you get a really persistent creditor pass them to your OR.

i had my intro and interview phone call a about a week after court but it was a bank holiday. Was a very simple and easy interview, think i am a simple case, (The Bankruptcy!!!) as i don't have a house, or assets just a car that i have to ask to be excempt! (fingers crossed!)
I have answered the phone and if it has been a creditor i've informed them of my BR. Some of them have actually been nice and said things like 'i hope things get better for you' or 'sorry you have gone through such a terrible time' ??????
Some of them want copies of the BR order however i figure i'll leave that to the OR as i don't have the facilities to copy at home and i don't intend on paying out more then i have to!
Heres to a debt free future xxx9th Feb 2011 - Back again! slipping into debt again!
Really don't want to be here..... again!

WELL DONE...Its a weird feeling coming out of court. I didnt know whether to laugh or cry..Just felt numb regarding it all.
re the creditors i would aggree with the posts on here if they contact you tell them the BR details, no *** of 2008 and Court details and thats it. They have to accept the info and you official receiver will inform them all with 4-6 weeks of the BR details direct.
My OR phoned me wednesday morning BR on monday so 2 days later and i got all paperwork to sign for data protection etc this morning. I have my OR telephone interview on the 27th - so 11 days after BR.. All pretty swift but at least its getting sorted now.
Hope everything goes well for you.
Dave.
