What is a liability order and do i needf to get it removed

Hi all,

April 2005 Sold Manchester House and moved to Oldham
16 May 2008 receive council tax bill for 29.04.06 to 04.06.06 at the Manchester address.
Telephoned council tax office, told to send email explaining the situation which I did.
Received automated response telling me i would get a reply within 14 days.

No reply Received

16 June 2008 receive letter informing me there is a liability order against me and the bailiffs are coming if I don't pay up within 14 days. This came from the city treasures office.
I googled his name and found the number for his office, telephoned and spoke to his seceratary, who informed me he was not available and that she would deal with it and cal me back in 10 mins.

She did not.

Im now writing an email (and letter) to the City Treasuere himself explaining the situation and how appauled I am at the way his staff have acted.

My main question is with regards to the liability order is it like a ccj and do i need demand it be removed from my records?

a liability order is awarded by the magistrates' court and not the county court so it has no bearing on your credit record or history. Write to the Council's Chief Executive complaining about the Treasurer's office.

Thanks for the quick reply, emailing the treasurers office did the trick. Turns out they own me £5.62, I dont think they found it too funny when I said I'd send the bailiffs round to collect.
