Can anyone comment on the quality of these cameras? I'm looking for something quite cheap for my teenage daughter, she will probably leave it behind somewhere, or drop it!0

Have a look at the review on Steve's Digicams. At the end of the review there are sample photos taken with the camera.

I have one of these as my 'knock around' camera... It's a pretty good camera, which has a good 3 x optical zoom and a good resolution. The Fuji cameras have always had good sensors in them, so no problem with it producing the full resolution. The camera is fairly resistant to knocks, and after purchasing a cheap case for a few quid from Adsa, it's a perminent addition when we go out.
The battery life is also very good if using very good quality batteries. Cheap, and underpowered AA batteries are not up to the task and the camera will struggle even from new. I would suggest getting some rechargable batteries rated at at least 2200ma. I have a good few hours of use out of these. The screen is quite small so doesn't suck much power, but the flash and mechanism combined with the screen does seem to take it's toll on lower quality batteries.
One thing I notice with mine is that the battery warning doesn't seem to work. Once it decides the charge isn't sufficient - OFF it goes... oh well... not a big problem, as we always charge up 4 batteries at a time.
XD memory cards are getting as cheap as the other types of cards. Again, I bought a 512MB card at Asda for about £50.
Overall the camera does have the look and feel of a rather cheap camera... the slide front cover seems a little naff, but I can see it helping the camera last longer (not much to break) and it does protect the lens well.
Camera is easy to use, and easy to connect to PC. Screen is clear.
One problem with all Fuji's I've found is their performance in low light conditions. Unless you are outside, you almost always end up needing to use the flash, else the 'shaking hands' sign pops up on the screen. In dark conditions flash glare is quite bad too. All this may be the same for a lot of cameras, but most of the cameras I've used are Fujis and even a more expensive Fuji camera I have suffers from this.
Overall, a pretty good camera, and for the price specified... I would definately go with reconditioned versions of Fuji cameras over any cheap branded cameras around the £50-60 range.
