£400-500 will give you at least another years motoring. Isn't that better than being £4000 in debt??

Its true that £500 will get it legal for another 12 months but if its still roadworthy in 12 months is another question, there are a few problems that are staring to rear its head (water pump etc)

Now I could buy another heap but i'm really tired of buying junk only to have to keep paying out to get it fixed.

A £4k loan on a holiday is stupid but £4k on an asset of sorts is slightly more sensible I thought especially as i'm really reliant on my car for work.

and as for Roller Skates :naughty:

I am in a similar position.

My car has several problems which will need attention before the next MOT, totalling around £350.
Trouble is with cars, everything links to everything else, and if a part fails it puts a strain on the next part and a chain of deterioration starts.

It's also starting to drink oil isn't fuel efficient whatsever and in addition to the '£350 work' will need (at least) 2 new tyres.

I have sat down and looked at the possibilities, and my old car could not only begin to cost me, but it may also mean my job would be 'on the line' too.

If it does keep breaking down then my employers wouldn't be pleased if I was constantly late, or had to keep having time off to take/collect my car from the garage.

    False economy IMO.

    £4K cars breakdown too.

I think your best bet is to go to a garage and take out there finance - make sure you check the rate though some can be quite high.
