I'm sick to the back teeth of them - they keep sending me jigsaws, even after I've stated that I do not wish to receive the monthly "editors choice" - they sent two, that I had to pay to send back, then last month they sent me another, which I refused to accept from the courier. They've now sent me a letter charging me £4.50 for an unauthorised return - bloody cheek.
I wrote to them to cancel my membership - they wrote back saying I had not had the required number of items to be able to cancel.
The problem is that whenever I have ordered something, it has always been out of stock, otherwise I would have had the 4 items required.
It's a complete pain because it's an opt out rather than opt in ordering system - they automatically send the editors choice if you don't notify them ( well, sometimes even if you do - it's worked when I've sent in the order form but not when I've dealt with them by phone).
How can I get them to leave me alone? I just want to cancel my membership.
Normal DSRs state that the business has to foot the returns cost - I know if I have a customer who wants a refund, I have to refund the full amount including postage.
There is nothing on their website that states the terms and conditions and I have nothing on paper - I don't have any kind of credit agreement with them ( I think) am I within my rights to just accept parcels, or refuse them and tell
them that it's their responsibility to arrange returns?

  • I got a letter from their debt collectors last week for £40.75 for books I didn't order, sent after I cancelled my membership. I wrote to them in March asking for return labels and heard nothing from them till this.

I wrote a snotty letter yesterday saying that under the Unsolicited Goods Act I could treat the books as a gift (true) and that attempting to get me to pay for them is a criminal offence (also true). But I just bottled out of paying it and want to pay the £40 because to be honest I'm just too stressed with the whole thing.

I haven't even opened the packages - they're still here waiting to go back.
