Another new hoover

My dyson (3year old) finaly decided it had had enought and fell apart, so now ideally i would replace it with a new dyson but now im thinking that there maybe a hoover out there that would suit me instead of the £200 price tag which i would be paying for the model i need/want, i need the brush bar control - i have 3 dogs so that rules out cylinder ones so looking upright and bagless and i think as powerfull as i possibley can get for what im hoping to pay, also hepa thats a must as there is/was asthma but no attacks in the past few years and i dont like hoover ones as ive tried them but they fall over easily (:p took ages trying to keep clean) so need: hepa, as powerfull as poss, bagless, beater bar and not fall over when doing stairs, has anyone bought something similar without the dyson price tag in the past few months?
I have looked at older posts and dyson, henry (dont look good for hairs) and the miele seem to be the leaders but tried the miele and it only lasted us again 2 years then the casing fell apart and the pet attatchment wouldnt spin.
Any suggestions please ?

I think Dysons are useless
I have one, it's not even two years old and already it doesn't pick up as i hoover normally, i have to use the hose and attachments. I'd never get another..There was a new Hoover brand called the "one pet" which has a special attachments for pet hairs
I'm not sure how much it is though..otherwise try Googling for upright hoover reviews

I very rarely buy extended waranties on anything but I bought one for the Dyson DC05 Motorhead (from Currys) and I am glad I did. In the past 3 years I think that just about every part has been replaced at least once (apart from the motor and electrical flex). I must have had 8 motorheads, 6 adjustable solid hoses, casing, several controller units, etc. The warranty was expensive and I hate the whole push of them in shops like Currys, Dixons, etc. but I just had a funny feeling that I should pay the extra and thankfully I did. Saying that tho', they won't be getting my custom again. I am sure that most manufacturers would have replaced the whole unit by now, maybe.0

I don't know why so many people have problems with Dysons. We've had ours about 6 years now and the only problem has been when it fell over and the electrical flex got pulled out, only took about 30 mins to fix and no problems since.0

We replaced our bin and soleplate from the d07 and also the brushes, the first 2 i can maybe put down to being a bit rough and not being carefull enough, but they do vary from model to model, i had the dc02 which had problems with the flex and my hubby fixed it (electrician) but when our next problem dyson refused as hubby non dyson staff and it invalidated the warrenty so the dc02 never actually lasted the 2 years but the dc07 seemed a lot better and if i had taken a bit more care it might just have been the brushes which you would expect, but i hope this dc14 will last the pace with me being a bit more carefull.
First impressions are its good slightly lighter and easier to push around and a lot more suction from the dc14 than the dc07. And was told yesterday by dyson that the hepa filter bit is a bit of a gimmick, as i asked if i could put the 07 hepa filter into the dc14 and was told no the filter in the dc14 was just as good, so it might save others forking out for something that isnt required;) also the differance in the dc14 animal is just the turbo brush which can be bought from dyson for £25 but the shops seem to lump on a lot more. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Our second dyson just died on us - not impressed enough to buy another dyson, they work well initially but cost a lot as they don't seem to last long. Our last one lasted 18 months. We have 6 children a big house and I childmind. We have just bought a Miele S571 cylinder (I was worried that a cylinder would not suit us), they were recommeded by Which. Wow - it is brilliant, I would never go back to an upright, the suction is fantastic, it is very quiet, the design is so well thought out - very easy to use. With pets you can get a roter brush head - for a little extra Miele make a similar model especially for pet owners. Our cleaner cost £110, the pet one is £150, 2 year guarantee as well - doesn't look like we should need it though as they rate incredibly well for reliability.
Hope this helps.0 -
No contest. Miele 'Cat and Dog' does what it says on the tin. Never had a Dyson but variety of other makes all failed to deal with pet hairs and went early to their graves.I bought basic filtration model but believe that enhanced filters are an option.0

I have had two Dysons only replacing the first because I wanted the pet hair model. Never Again. I gave my old one to my son which is working great but the new one is awfull tools broke after a couple of weeks it looses suction easily and gets blocked more than the old one. Perhaps they have become so big they don't have to prove themselves anymore and use inferior plastic to the older machines. I can't justify buying a new one yet but I will never buy another Dyson. I also find the new one very heavy and I hate haveing to take it upstairs.0
