gomez peers: is it safe?

Hi everyone, has anyone heard of gomez peers?
This is a company that monitors your internet usage and sells it on the third parties, so it all sounds very scary, but the idea is that its just collecting stats, about the site, not about the user, so its not spying on you personally its just collating information that corporations with a big web presence will find useful.

I've googled it and read some reviews. The problems reported being that
it can take a long time to get approval and start earning
it can make your PC have more bugs

anyone here have any experience?
