will it be soggy...

Got home from a meeting this evening, 9pm, yes a bit crazy i know but I unloaded the dishwasher, emptied the drier and put another load of washing in, then made a loar of bread, or rather put the stuff in the bread machine. It will be done at 12.30. Should I set my alarm to go off at 12.30 when it's due to be done, to take it out, will it be soggy or will it be ok?
YES I know I should have used the timer but I've had nothing but bad luck with that. Needed bread for kids packed lunch tomorrow!

    Sarah,

If you don't take it out within a short time of it being finished it will re-absorb the steam it emits as it cools, therefore yes it will be soggy.

My BM has a function whereby if you don't open the lid, it keeps it warm in a kind of dry heat which prevents it getting soggy but this will only work if the lid has not been lifted and within 1 hour of the end of the program. Any longer than this and it turns to mush.

Sorry to say this, but you'd better set your alarm!

    Hi all

I used my new BM (Panasonic 253) for the first time last night and put the timer on so the bread would be ready at 6am. I made a wholemeal sandwich loaf....well....it does resemble a loaf of bread  Haven't tasted it yet...it felt kinda squishy and hadn't risen at all. OH is bringing it to work...so we'll see.

I had to get some sleep as I have a big job to do for someone today - got to write an article for a magazine  I set my alarm and got the bread out, but I think there was a prob with something else cos it had dipped in the middle anyway. It was a softgrain mix, like mighty white sort of stuff. Ah well, the kids have a big lump of bread and butter and a chunk of cheese instead of a sandwich today;)
