Hi
Just had Virgin Broadband connected and working fine with laptop. Have wireless router and connects well with work laptop. Getting about 15mb from wireless and almost full 20mb from connecting direct to the modem.
I have an old desktop PC that I want to connect. It doesn't have an Ethernet port or wireless. It also has the older type 1 USB ports. What's best to do to connect it?
I have also realised that I got the box installed in not the most conveninet position to fully use the 20mb. It's in the living room next to my works laptop. But I only use that for surfing.
The older laptop is in my office in a different room and it is that one I download films, music etc. Doh! That one could have done with a ethernet cable direct to the modem.

Either buy an ethernet card for the PC and use Ethernet or get a Wireless adapter and use that. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
A caveat, though. If you're running something that pre Windows XP, check you can get a driver for your operating system.
Personally, I'd get a PCI one instead of USB so you can keep the USB port free. Simply unscrew your case, and plug it into the slot.0 -
Ok - Looking at a Netgear (as my router is Netgear) PCI wireless adaptor
One is 54 Mbps and the other is 108 Mbps - I don't understand which one I need?
It also says I need a PCI 2.2 compliant slot - I have read that it should say this on the motherboard?0
