Import duty from US

I'm hoping to bring an electric guitar back from US but find the HMRC site an abominable mess to find the correct import duty I'd be stung for. I know I'd have to pay duty on the whole purchase price then VAT on the total (how many times can you tax the same thing!!). Anyone know what % duty I'd be lookinmg at or a helpline number? Blowed if I can find either easily. Cheers.
