Who can service a BMW and reset the Service indicator?

Can any of our money savers recommend anyone? (Apart from a BMW dealer that is) standard service, nothing flash

I'm in Jordanstown, but happy to travel to get the right service and price

As ever, thanks for any replies

For Warranty issues is it not safer to have an official BMW service.

I've heard official services can cost a bit, but if you can afford a BMW and the petrol to run it, a £300 service will be nowt to you ;)

If the Bemmer is outside warranty there is a wee man in Strabane (not a joke, or Hugo Duncan) who does BMW services for a few quid in the hand no questions asked, my cousin had an old bemmer and used him quiet often;) but Strabane is a bit of a trek form Jordanstown, sorry.
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:
  • Thanks for the advice

The car is seven years old and well out of warranty, so I'm not fussed on spending the 300 plus odd quid with Bavarian...half that sounds more appealing

You can buy the reset tool from euro car parts, or ebay. They range from about £15-£45. Any competent mechanic can service a BMW. They are no different from other cars to service.

Have a read through this http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-40941.html

Some good advice on it about only resetting the service indicator after you actually have serviced the car, let us know if this method actually works please.

Why not try your local BMW community boards

    www.thebmwclub.co.uk

    www.ni-bmw.co.uk

It's not advertising as they don't profit from anything, simply local BMW forums & yes I'm on them.

As for your service ... you DON'T need to use BMW garages for warranty. You DO have to use BMW parts & a VAT registered garage / mechanic. There's pleanty around wourth talking to, just depends how far you want to travel but from memory there's a good guy up around Carrick (pretty close to you) or some good guys in Ards. I'll pm you details later when I get home.

GP Turbos in Comber (02891870505) - know their way round an engine and not too hard to pay. They managed to fix my 7 year old 3 series diesel were others failed (including Bavarian).
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

    Thanks for all the replies

BigCammy, curiosity got the better of me and I tried resetting the indicator myself - yep, I can confirm it works. Still need the car serviced though, and as the brake fluid is two years old and needs replaced, I need to find a way to reset that indicator too, but another bridge crossed.

couldnt find the details for J Kyle and son - if anyone has them I'll be very grateful
