Somewhere in this forum I have recently read a post about 'laundry gloop' which is a homemade substitute for laundry liquid or powder.

Apparently it is very good on stains so it should do the trick on the cuffs and collars, I imagine!

I can't remember off the top of my head where I read it but I have saved the link to the gloop recipe

Had a look in my local boots this afternoon and borax can be found beside Boots own brand washing powder, fabric conditioner, starch and caustic soda.

    Hope this helps.

I would be happy to buy it and post it to you but, bearing in mind that it weighs 750g, postage might be costly.

  • Thanks Pink. My local Boots doesn't seem to stock any of those items. Do you live in the North, I think Boots' have more stock there. Will try one of the bigger branches in the west end.

my small boots in a nearby town will order it for you, they order me stuff since the one in the main town was made pedestrianised all around, they are really helpful.

I know just the kind of look you mean - and I actually LIKE getting this look now, because I know it means I'm saving money while they're paying extra for brand name products, just in order to be 'modern'!
