Freezing NHS pension contributions

I have contributed to my NHS pension for the last 15 years since I was 18 (apart from a 2 year break when I worked abroad).

I am just wondering if it is possible to opt out or freeze contributions for any length of time and opt back in again at a later date?

Many thanks.

You can but why would you want to?
The pension is one of the few good things about working for the NHS.

IIRC, If you exit you cannot get back in again.

Given the low net contribution rate and the gold plated quality of the pension, it would seem daft to leave the scheme.

Yes you can leave and rejoin but you may regret it later.
