Pickle's Id is worried that 80k detached houses may happen again (once inflation is stripped out). This worry is consuming his Ego, making him a sensitive soul.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -

No I agree, I was wrong to be abusive, it's just you often repy to mine and other posters posts with really unsolicited and subjective opinion, rather than discussion.
I just think so many people on here refuse to look at the situation objectively and refuse to post objectively too. I used to be on here years ago under a now lost username and I felt there was a lot of good, well thought out debate.
I came back on here because I saw what was happening in the economy and also because my circumstances have changed (no longer at uni) and wanted to come back to that kind of community where we could discuss facts and figures, and of course opinion.
There are really worrying signs from the economy at the moment. That is fact, whether it affects you personally or not. It would be nice to have some logical discussion on the subject without crazy people just saying whatever comes into their heads instead of concentrating on their paid work like they should be.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
Is it just me...?
I read all of Pickles' postings as pure tongue in cheek, cheeky little wind ups.
Cat and mouse games, rather than serious/panic/sneering.
Is it just me?
e.g. where pickles responded to the words "constructive" and "wise" and said there's no need to use that language. It made me laugh as I read it in the vein of "don't accuse me of being useful or clever".0 -

I owned property back at that time and for 80k you could have bought a very large 4 bed detached in an excellant area.
I think over the years you mind has addled.
2 bedroom terrace house in the same area my house was in had an original 1988 price of 82k...but then it was a new build and we all know what happens to those prices in times of crash/correction/etc .We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Where did mizzbiz state the date? I must have missed that.
Pickles, I've come to the conclusion that you're just a 'gimmick character'. I wouldn't be surprised if you were one of the bulls with a second account having a bit of a laughWe've all heard the stories of fat old balding men frequenting lesbian chatrooms under an assumed persona for kicks... I think you're the house price board equivalent:rotfl:

What gets to me is all the bitter and twisted people out there that blame everyone but themselves for the mess they are getting into.
Any way some good news for a change, Ipswich Town have just signed a second player this week, role on to the new footie season.0 -
The 1990 recession punished the white collar professional classes, especially those living in the outer home counties. They had always thought they were recession proof and had over borrowed.0

My parents bought a Victorian semi in Blackheath, London SE3, in 1983, for £76k....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I bought a 1 bedroom property in December 1990 for £51,500 and sold it in May 1996 for £42,000, so that's an 18% fall. Prices had just started to recover when we sold.
We had to get a special "negative equity" mortgage to buy our next house which meant carrying over the outstanding amount onto the new mortgage. You had to jump through hoops to get one and the bank scrutinised every detail of our income and expenditure.0
