Try asking on Freecycle for a slow cooker. I bet loads of non-MSE people have them lurking in the back of their cupboards.
Also what about a toasted sandwich maker? You can get those for about a fiver in Tesco, or used to be able to anyway.
Edit: Just read your OP and you already mentioned toasted sandwiches, so presumably you either have one or have some of those toastybag things?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

There's an earlier thread that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

oooh, just seen my ancient thread has been bumped. And a belated thanks to all who helped. My new kitchen looks lovely, & it's such a relief to have my oven back. Next time I get a new kitchen I promise I will not pack at the last minute and think about what I should keep out.
In the end we managed two weeks in our house with the microwave, and half price offers at local restaurants...monday was tapas, tuesday pizza, etc. Then we moved out - a friend lent us her flat whilst she was away! I could just about live with the microwave meals etc, but it was the dust that got to me.
Good luck with your builders owens.0 -
If anyone else finds themselves in this situation, remember that those dried thread egg noodles and rice noodles can be cooked by pouring boiling water over them, covering and leaving for five minutes. The medium ones don;t work so well this way though.
For the toastie-machine - toastie pizza's - spread a thin layer of tomato puree over the bread, add finely chopped onion, finely chopped cooked bacon, and very thinly sliced mushrooms. Sprinkle over a good layer of grated cheese or sliced mozarella, top with second slice of bread and cook as per instructions with your machine.
