With a retail price of £244.25 this is our best prize yet. The winner will be contacted to check the size required. So that everyone else does not feel left out we are also offering this ring at a £60 discount this month. The inscription (translated into Elvish) reads "One ring to show our love, One ring to bind us. One ring to seal our love, And forever entwine us" which is a lovely sentiment but subtely worn in the Elvish script.
Q1: The Elven language was created by a British author, but which one?
A: JRR Tolkein
Q2: In the UK the wedding ring is traditionaly worn on the 4th finger of the left hand, why is this?
A: The Romans believed there was a vein conecting this finger to the heart.
Some say it is linked to the vena amoris which is ancient greek? (When actually it's Latin) From here, and other sources, which is believed to be a vein connecting this finger to the heart. Also sources connect it to Egypt.
Wiki just says classical.
The options are:
The Romans believed there was a vein conecting this finger to the heart.
King Henry the VIII started the tradition.
Introduced by the Greeks.
[STRIKE] If someone can come up with a better answer I'll amend but I'm stumped and going with Romans as its Latin.....[/STRIKE]
:T Thanks to ALL those below for confirming.:T

I had always heard that it was to do with the vein to the heart - didnt know it had been the Romans idea tho!!!0

Found this:
Your wedding band is traditionally worn on the left hand, on the ring finger. They say that the reason you wear it there is because the Lord says that you have a vein that goes directly from this finger to your heart. It's called vena amoris.
So you were right:DThanks to all comp posters:ADo not take life too seriously; you will never get out of it alive0 -
