please help council tax worry

Sorry if this is in the wrong board but i need urgent advice

I am one month behind with my council tax i got a letter saying if i did not pay it within the next 7 days i would have to pay the whole year in full .Today is the 7 days i completly forgot about it and i have not got enough money in my bank until Wednesday to pay it .
What should i do ?
I could have posted a cheque but it will get there to late now.There is council tax offices near me do you think they would accept a cheque there ,would they want to see my debit card if i gave them a cheueqe as they may wonder why i am not paying by switch .

    ring them just after 9 and ask them to give you another week or month to pay it, and make sure not to miss another payment, that letter they sent is normal so dont worry.

    I would give them a ring.

    This happened to me once and they were very helpful.

    Councils are very often ameniable to those with genuine reason for failing to pay once. If it will help, ask them if you can pay over twelve months, again many councils allow this.
