Advice needed- After work money making

Options
hello

I have almost completed my mechanical maintenance apprenticeship, one of the parts of this course was making high precision parts on a lathe and milling machine.

Anyway I have been thinking of advertising my services, or even making parts and selling on ebay part time as my dad has a lathe at his house i could use after work. Most professional companies charge a lot for these one off parts and i am sure i could do it cheaper and could make them to the same degree of accuracy and quality.

What i was wondering is there any legal requirements to this, or any problems i may have?

Any advice and help is appreciated. Cheers

I would suggest talking to a broker about whether you require products liability insurance, as it could prove expensive shoudl something go wrong. There isn't a legal requirement, but IMO I wouldn't manufacture products for sale without it.

    Good luck with the venture.
