Saw some Cyberhome DVD recorders in Asda, Northampton today for £89.

I just bought the Sumvision SV-1001 from SVP (http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/dvdrecord.html) for £87 + p&p and have been really impressed with the quality. Recording from Sky and can't tell the diference between broadcast and recording at standard play (2 hours / disc).

It's worth checking out if you're looking for a cheap recorder.

asda are advertising a dvd recorder for 69.99 saw thw ad today but cant remember the maker (prob never heard of it anyway) worth a look

Asda were reported to be selling the Pye PRV645 for £89.97 in some stores.
They have previously sold it at £119.97 and £99.97.

Pye is a Philips brand. This model, though cosmetically different, is similar in specification to the Philips 610.

The sumvision's +r, yeah. I've just been using +RWs to record then copy anything I want to keep on the computer.

I wonder if anyone can answer a question for me - I've been thinking about getting a dvd recorder for a while. I have home videos I want to get onto dvd before they deteriorate more, can all dvd recorders copy videos?

If you plug the output scart of your video into the input of the DVD recorder, it'll copy them no problem.

Only ones you'd have issue with are ones with the Macrovison protection but your home recordings shouldn't have that on them anyways.
