"Wages" working for yourself

Really interesting reading what everyone is up to on the "cottage industry" thread! :j

I am starting up in the near future selling accessories for weddings. I will be buying in a few items but making others (Sewing)

As I work full time, this will just be a part time venture with me posting the goods out or customers calling at the house to pick them up themselves.
I am quite happy keeping it small as I have security of my job and I satisfy my creative side.

How do you all decide what to pay yourselves in this sort of situation - a few hours here and there?

At one time, I thought there was such a thing as a "paying hobby" instead of a fully fledged business! How is everyone treating their "cottage industry" with regards to Inland Revenue etc?

Good Luck to everyone! :T
