nintendo ds lite vs psp for 6 year old?

Hi hope this is in the right place firstly, am after some opinions really, my son will be 6 in 2 wks and wants a ds lite cos his 2 best friends have them, i see from the other thread they are all about £99 (do you think i can find a silver one in stock though?!no!) but looking at the pics of PSPs the graphics look far better. He is very good with the PS2 we have, can play older games that i can't work out lol!
Am not sure if PSPs are suitable for his age or if the games are for older kids?Just that it seems to do more than the ds but not sure if anyone can tell me from their experience which is the best one to go for as neither are cheap! Thanks v much for any replies.

for a six year old i would personally go for the DS. My daughter is 7 and she loves hers. i think the nintendo games are more child friendly. Aslo the DS fols up giving the screen that little bit more protection though in my/our experience it is quite a hardy bit of kit. it has been dropped many times onto the wood block floor we have and is still working.
I don't know much about the PSP in comparison other than a friend of my daughters had one and has since been bought a DS.

As for what other capabilities the machines have. The DS can be used as a multi media player, but you need to purchase a piece of kit to allow it to do so. search the forums for R4 cards or DSTT cards.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

I am 35 years old and my wife 38!!!

I purchased PSP at Chritsmas and graphics are superior which is why I went for it. However, bought DS Lite last week and for interaction, playability etc the PSP just doesnt compare - I'm going to sell my PSP and stick with DS Lite - if you want to play PSP games buy a PS2 where you can pic up loads of cheap games. I love the DS Lite!!

I have just been bought a DS by my partner, my son who is 5 loves playing on it and we have planned to buy him one for his 6th birthday in September.

I found a psp a while ago down a back alley and it has sat doing nothing for a while incase someone came back for it. My partner says they are possibly a litle too old for my son :)
