Photocard Driving Licenses

I might have been dreaming but i think i remember someone telling us how you can get a free photocard driving license??

I have moved house so need to change my old paper one and they want me to pay money??:O:O shock gasp horror lol

It would seem you do not have to pay if you are changing your address. As far as I am aware this info is still up to date.

Just checked the DVLA site too and that confirms it is free. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/coa.htm

Head down to your local check & send Post Office with your passport and form and you needn't be without your important documents for the consideration of £4. Worth it IMO because you'd be in the sticky stuff if your passport got lost in the post....

Good advice thanks honeymonster unfortunately no hope of using passport but u never know a lottery win might happen lol

LOL - you don't need to be using it for travel for it to be a royal pain in the rear for it to go missing.....

i upgraded my driving license to the photo one when i lastmoved. Sent it off with a cheque and got the cheque back as un-needed.

If you apply yo have a provisional bus or lorry licence then it's free to upgrade from an old paper one to the new photocard. Even if you have no intention of driving a bus

I did. But I may have overlooked something. I forgot that I had to get a medical for the Bus licence. That cost £67. So forget that route. Sorry

You could 'pretend' to move back to your parents/brothers/sisters house, get the free photo licence, and then 'move' back home. Bit fiddly-but change of address from a paper licence to a photo one is free.
