Time limit on DCA collecting Council Tax?

Hey all
I'm wondering about this thing that's suddenly popped up with Rossendales. According to them, a liability order was granted over a year ago for some council tax on my shop that closed. I didn't receive any paperwork whatsoever, and they've only just contacted me about it.
Is there some sort of time limit on this? Seems a bit odd that they left it so long, they have an email address for me so can't say it's becasue I moved, besides, they had my old address from when I got that last loads of fraudulent debt sorted out (i.e. they said I owed more money, and I could prove it had already been paid) and according to them they had this new debt when I was still at my old address.
Any thought?

This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

According to the statute of limitation act 1980, any debtor can still chase you for money (including government related debts i.e. council tax, income tax etc...) up to 6 years from your last payment or point of contact with them. As far as concil tax is concerned, they can even apply to the courts for an extension after the 6 years has passed.
Hope that helps.0 -
Sorry, meant to say "any creditor can still chase you..."

You may need to contact national debtline on this as it may depend on the dates - not sure what happens after a liability order is granted.
