Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but following on from ITV's Tonight programme, here's a really good site:

Sounds good. I had no idea you could revive limp lettuce like that

But why would you want to? (Sorry, I have non-lettuce eaters in this house, did you know some people have a gene which makes lettuce taste very bitter? and I have a gene which makes lettuce have no taste at all. :rotfl: No waste though, we just don't buy lettuce!)Sounds good. LOL! I wish I had a few genes that make me dislike all fattening foods
Well I live alone and when I buy a lettuce it's sort of boring trying to eat it all at once, or even over one day. Besides, I sometimes forget I have some left over...
Anyway, an excellent tip which I found in an old book - and have posted over on OS - is that if you put a clove of garlic in the fruit bowl, it keeps apples fresh for a long time. Since doing that, I've had NO apples rot or even spoil a bit, and I only buy organic fruit which is more perishable than the intensively farmed variety.

Now that IS useful, not that I usually have garlic in the house because we use it so rarely that it often goes off before I've used it, but if I kept it in the fruit bowl rather than the veg rack we'd have a win-win situation, wouldn't we? :T :beer:Signature removed for peace of mind0

I tell you Sue, I had misgivings when I read that, but since I always have garlic (good Italian, me
), I saw no harm in trying - and it works! :j No more rotting apples! Although it doesn't seem to work with satsumas, clementines etc as I did find one rotting away. But only one, so... Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
