I know it's been a while since these posts, but I wanted to update the info and links.
In Wales there is a community food co-operative programme funded by the welsh government and delivered by a not for profit company called the Rural Regeneration Unit (RRU).
There are currently approximately 350 food co-ops across Wales, run on a not for profit basis by volunteers from community buildings.
Anyone can use a food co-op and they operate a really simple system whereby customers visit the venue, order and pay in advance for a bag of fresh fruit, veg or salad at a set price - usually £2.50 - £3. The customer then goes to the venue the following week, picks up their produce and orders for the following week if they want to.
There is a co-op finder for these community food co-operatives on the Rural Regeneration Unit's website.
Enjoy

After the stories about bugs, I'd much rather carry on buying from my local market stall where I can inspect and pick my own to a certain extent. I know exactly where the produce comes from - New Spitalfields market
