Making money while abroad

Options
Hi, does anyone know if its possible to make money using the internet while abroad? Im abroad already and Id like to find something practical to fund more travelling, preferably online. I looked at slice the pie but its not practical to sit for hours with headphones in an internet cafe. Something more discreet would be good.

Im really grateful for any help,

I live abroad, and do some work via the internet. However, I have access at home. TBH, I can't think of a way of earning via the net without spending hours at the PC, if you're looking for something that will make you money while you're off elsewhere, you might be out of luck!

Perhaps better to try more traditional ways (bar work, teaching etc).

Me to Cholita, do you have any tips for me??

I have had a job here but gave it up a couple of months ago, so am just starting out trying to make a living online

I have registered on odesk and set my hourly rate at $6 but so far no jobs, think most of the Indians at under $2 keep egtting the jobs.
Earn a bit through Mysearchfunds and just started on dooyou (with my Uk address). Have looked into buying websites but not taken the plunge yet, just started a blog on squidoo today.

Needmoney ...as Cholita says I think your options without your own PC will be limited, have you considered TEFL English teaching? my search funds will probably earn you enough to cover your Internet cafe bill.

Which country are you in, Alpha, and what are your skills? Do you speak the local language?

I'd suggest using any contacts you have to see if they can recommend you, that way you're not competing with countless anonymous applicants. I do occasional work for a publishers that a contact recommended me to.

I'm also on Odesk, though I won't apply for any jobs that are only looking to pay a ridiculously low rate. Just had my first interview, fingers crossed!

PM me if you want, and we can compare notes.

yeah i have my own pc and an internet connection! i am kindof living here but if i dont get some money soon i will have to go back to England!
  • Hi everybody

Thanks for the replies and its nice to know Im not the only one who needs some more money abroad. I thought about teaching English but where I am the pay is awful and will only fund me for the days Im there, not for any more travel. That is something though.

One thing that might help others is that you can work on farms but they dont pay you, they just let you stay for free and sometimes you have to buy your own food.

Can anyone go into more detail about the suggestions in Post 4 please, maybe you alphason? How do dooyou, buying websites and squidoo work, and mysearch funds?

The internet is cheap where I am so Id be interested in the options.

    Thank you very much

Depending on where you all are, you could try looking for callcentre work, it's pretty crap but you could do it for a few months.
