Invite Vicar?

Are you inviting the vicar to your reception? If so, do you invite their partner/husband/wife?

I never realised that anybody did this as I've never been to a wedding where the vicar has been present but having seen a couple of sites recently, it seems to be the done thing.

We easily have capacity to invite two more guests and we have completely confused our church/parish administrator with our situation............marrying outside our parish, no resident vicar at church so vicar from neighbouring parish is going to marry us, boyfriend is dual nationality Dutch/South African, the list just goes on and on! :rotfl:

Anyway, as everyone has been very nice, the vicar is a lovely lady and we want to make it clear that the spiritual part of our marriage is important to us. I thought it might be a good idea if we invite her (plus other half). We also have a marriage preparation day next Saturday and I thought I could slip her the invite then.

What does everyone think?

My father in law is a vicar and has been invited to many weddings.
The invite is always for him and my mother in law.
He goes to as many as he can. If he can't go it is only because he has got tied up with other things to do with the church. There is so much preperation that goes into church services. Weddings. christenings and funeral visits e.c.t. The reason i mention all of this is if the vicar says she can't come don't be offended.
Hope that helps and it is a lovely kind thought.
Also if you didn't want to invite the vicar and their spouse they don't take it to heart i promise.
    Have a wonderful wedding day.

We invited the vicar and his wife as I'd known them for the best part of 20 years........ I also asked him to say grace. Then, in the evening, the new part-time vicar and his wife came to the evening do.

I have two vicars. The one in whose church I'm getting married we are not inviting but we are giving him a thank you gift of the drawings h2b did of his church which we scanned onto our orders of service.

My pastor, of my church, is invited to the evening only but he isn;t happy about it and keeps hinting he wants to come to the meal! Ah well, he and I fell out a bit a while back and that's when we did the guest list so...
