  • Hi Missyp!
We currently live in Harpenden in Herts which is V.V.V expensive so we are looking at other areas around us. I don't want to move too far from here if possible as my husband and I both work within 20 mins of here, my mum lives quite close and she has my daughter when I am at work, and we really, really love the area!! We are looking at cheaper places now though as you're right, its much more sensible doing that. So disheartening when it feels like you are moving away from your 'home' BUT Needs must and if it means we can get a family home that we can afford then so be it! X

  • Hmmm- well, pretty bad couple of days! Had to buy birthday pressies (which I did in the sale so that wasn't so bad), petrol cost me nearly £50 today (!!!!!!???!!!) our laptop broke so we need to get another one at the weekend (Would put it off but my husband is doing a degree with the OU so he needs it), spent £11.00 on lunch yesterday (my friends had bought coffees and cakes earlier in the day and we hadn't planned on being out that long so it was my 'turn' to get the food) and it just feels like all I have done is spend, spend, spend! Will probably be OK if I don't touch any of my next weeks budget so fingers crossed I manage it.

If anyone knows any good laptop deals they would like to share I'd be very grateful!

Feeling about overwhelmed at the moment with how much its going to cost us to move. Feels like I'm fighting a losing battle :-(

  • Woooooo hoooO! Spend free day today- managed not to spend anything at lunch (I seem to have a compulsion to buy something, anything, at lunchtime even if I don't need it!). Plus don't need to stop and get anything on my way home tonight as I have planned my meals for this week and shopped accordingly :p so am feeling very pleased with myself!!

Don't know if this helps my shopping budget is £336 a month for 6 (2 adults 4 children 1 dog 1 cat 1 hamster) So the grocery budget can be cut down. Just keep plugging away at it.

  • Hi Lucille
We are budgeting ourselves to £80 per week for shopping now so around £320 a month. Week one has just happened and was just under so I think we should be able to reduce it further in the future- when we get used to it! I have found it an eye opener and fully admire people who manage to shop on a tiny budget! Thank you x

  • Hola lovely MSErs! I've got a no spend day today which is always good, plus going to the in laws for the weekend so don't need to worry about food shopping! Cheeky I know! Have to buy a laptop at the weekend though so going to be an expensive one! Hope you are all doing OK.

I'm a bridemaid at a wedding next week and its cost us a fortune to attend because of things like hen party, gifts, shoes etc. I paid out most of it before I found this fab site and now I have a heart attack when I think of how much its costing us! Oh well, whats done is done- just be good from now on!

Hope you have fab money making weekends!!
