Private eye clinic in London - corneal erosion

I suffer from recurrent corneal erosions - agonisingly painful, random episodes where I wake up in the morning and the top layer of my cornea has blistered. As I understand it, I have a condition called 'map-dot dystrophy.'

I urgently want to see a private specialist about it as I don't think I'm getting top treatment with the NHS, and eyes are something I DO NOT want to mess with.

So far I've found one London clinic who will see me for £275 for a 45 minute appointment.

Sadly I don't have private medical insurance, if I could I could claim back. If I get it now though, as I understand it I can't claim for any pre-existing conditions.

My questions are - anyone know a cheaper private ophthalmologist in London, or know any way I can get around claiming it on private health insurance?

  • Try this guy..he's a specialist in corneas.
(£275 sounds like a lot for a consultation).

By the way..i've suffered for 6 mths now..had a month with nothing last month but then it started again. Make sure you use lacrilube ointment every night, or Muro128 which u can buy on the net from USA (expensive but supposed to be better).

    Good luck.
