i am looking for one of those alarm clocks that increses the light in the mornings so you wake up better (i am a grouch when i wake up in the dark). the lumie one i want is £99 and ive seen it no cheaper anywhere. does anyone know of any good cheaper alternatives or where this can be got at a bargin??
the other prices ive seen are boot one £59 and lumie at £59 and £79.
i know you can get the SAD lights but my problem is just waking up in the winter, in summer easy peasy in winter - no way so i think the light in the morning will make that difference.

Can't help you with a discount but I bought a Bodyclock Sunray from https://www.lumie.com and I've been really pleased with it. Most of the time I do manage to wake up to the light but I always set the alarm function just in case - it's listed at £59.95 and I think that's about what I paid for it a year ago. I got a discount from the Patrick Holford newsletter, 100% Health, but I can't see any deals on there at the moment. Boots.com sells it so if you've got points or a discount code you could try there?
I find that even if I am not awake by the time the alarm goes off I am close to conscious and so the sound doesn't shake me out of that deep sleep with the feeling that you're about to have a heart attack. I feel a get a better start to the day.

It is natural for us to respond to the rising sun by slowing waking up, which probably explains why it is so difficult to wake up on a dark winter's morning. When a noisy alarm clock startles us awake we can feel irritable and weary all day. This new Rise and Shine alarm clock imitates the sunrise effect by your bedside gently emitting a glowing light 5 minutes before the alarm time and gradually brightening to wake you naturally. It also functiions as a normal buzzing alarm clock with snooze and features a large digital display.Additionally, using the manual override the clock double up as a night light.Requires 3 x AA batteries or mains adaptor, not included.
This isn't a personal recommendation but as the effect of light on the brain can only be transmitted through the eyes this is as likely as any other to be effective.
