Top lip waxing advice please?!!!!! Who has had it done then?

I had my lip waxed recently for the first time :o the other day.
Brill, love the results however now I'm coming out in lots of little spots, red and white ones

The therapist did say it would happen possibly but not to pick them, which I am resisting to do, but I am on a night out tomorrow so don't really want a top lip full of spots instead of hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this normal? Will it happen everytime I have it done? What can I put on it to make the spots go? HELP!!!!

I had leg wax and lip wax as part of a christmas present voucher.........leg wax brugh my legs out in spots for the rest of the afternoon but surprisingly the lip wax didn't.
With the leg wax spots I had been told this was quite normal and they should go by the end of the day which they did.
I'd check with the therapist if I were you, just to see how long it's supposed to last and whether you can use make up or not.

there are different reasons why you have these spots, the usual being if this is the first time your skin will be more sensitive to the treatment and the face is a sensitive area, also if it is around your time of month this can affect your sensitivity. When i was doing my training i had my lip and chin waxed and looked like i had acne for about three days aferwards. you theapist should have given you advice on some post treatment care if not give her a call and ask but he spots are normal and just keep the area clean DON'T pick or touch them just have to wait, good news if you keep having the treatment your skin gets used to it and you don't keep getting them :T

Hi. it could be a reaction to the wax. but usually its because of mild infection as the pores have all opened out. they should have given some aftercare.

i do it my self at home. with the veet facial wax strips. cut them smaller and use them. then instead of using the 'wipes' enclosed in the pack - just in case of another side effect, i spread a little vaseline on some facial tissue, and then add a few drops of mild (hubby's!) aftershave and wipe the upper lip area. not only to wipe away any wax, but to give an antiseptic clean to the pores, and the vaseline to soften the skin. i do the same on my eyebrows.
have a tweezer handy so if any grow back or there are a few stray ends. HTH;)

Well I went and bought some Aloe Vera gel today which I think is helping. I did squeeze a few of them :o which I think has helped calm them down. I just wish I hadn't bothered now! Will it really not happen everytime? I did buy some of the salons tea tree oil but that wasn't really working well. I just wish they had told me!

Tea tree oil works well - but for aftercare, rub some Savlon on the area! Kills bacteria.

It is normal (although not very common) and is likely to be a combination of sensitivity/bacteria. Did they put an aftercare cream on? My beautician uses tea tree cream which is brilliant. Boots do an excellent Tee Tree Antiseptic cream in a green tube/box (small toothpaste size) which should help. I use it for all sorts of ailments, especially on the children! Aloe Vera Gel would help too.

Hope it goes before your night out. A little concealer may help too. Good luck. Remember no-one will notice it as much as you do. But horrible when you feel self conscious. Small spots are generally more acceptable than a moustache on a lady though. :D

She put tea tree oil on straight after and then I was plastering it on for the few days following. Thats why I was sooooo shocked that I came out in these horrid spots. I called up the salon and she said to stop using tea tree as it was too drying  hence the aloe gel. It doesn't look half as bad today, just red tiny spots, nowhere near as bad as it was the other day so it was a bit of a relief when I woke this morning. I had my night out but I just hope that none of the ladies took one look at me and thought quietly to themselves.......;)

Lunar Eclipse, I did actually buy some foundation yesterday which I am also glad I did, but your comment made me smile bout acceptables....:D

I think I want to keep this up to be honest, but I really hope it doesn't happen everytime. I would have to meticulously plan each appointment so that it didn't clash with any 'events' next time, bit silly though that it is hair free for 3 weeks or so and nearly one week is taken up by healing!

Just have to see how I go perhaps. :o
