Tesco...Reductions prior to Sell-By-Date

It really does pay to shop when others do not. Late evening between 8.30 to 10pm, usually on a Tuesday, Tesco clear a lot of old stock left over from the W/E especially that which is within a day or two of its sell by date. There are are large quantities of veg and fruit reduced to 10p and a good selection of meat, such as beef, fish and chicken, reduced to 50p. Bread and rolls and cakes are also down to 20 or 30p. The bigger stores with petrol are best due to the volume of produce available. Just follow the old dears with the trolleys before they deposit their reductions at the reduced cabinet. Remember they are'nt fussed about what they reduce down to when their end of shift is approaching at 10pm. Happy hunting.

There's been a serious paucity of bargains in my local store recently. They've largely stopped slapping the simple yellow stickers with a handwritten price on and now use a printed barcode label- and the discount is usually only 25%:(. It seems that if somthing really isn't selling they'll go as far as 75% but I've only seen that 2 or 3 times in the last six months.0
